Alobos, facing charges of stabbing two individuals, one fatally, was brought into the Washington County courtroom after a bathroom break. As standard procedure dictated, his leg restraints were removed before entering the courtroom to avoid prejudicing potential jurors. This seemingly routine act provided Alobos with the opportunity he needed.
In a flash, he bolted out of the courtroom, sprinting through the hallways and out of the building, leaving startled court officers in his wake. Despite a perimeter setup and a manhunt, Alobos remained elusive for hours. He was eventually apprehended hiding in a bedroom closet at a nearby apartment complex after a tip led authorities to his location.
Alobos’s escape attempt resulted in additional charges of second-degree escape and burglary. He was ultimately convicted on all counts related to the murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Jessica Boomershine, facing charges for violent crimes including kidnapping, felonious assault, and aggravated robbery, decided to take matters into her own hands while waiting in a holding area.
Surveillance footage reveals Boomershine meticulously planning her escape. She first tested the sturdiness of a wall-mounted video monitor, then stacked a plastic chair on top of it, using it as a makeshift ladder. As fellow inmates watched in a mix of amusement and disbelief, Boomershine attempted to pry open the ceiling tiles.
Officers, alerted by the commotion, arrived just as Boomershine’s makeshift escape route crumbled beneath her. She plunged through the ceiling, landing unceremoniously in a trash can, much to the astonishment of everyone present.
Boomershine’s audacious, albeit unsuccessful, escape attempt resulted in additional charges of escape and vandalism. She later entered a guilty plea for all charges, including her role in the kidnapping and robbery, and was sentenced to 25 to 30 years in prison.
